Actually, according to my Bible, it says that the book of Exodus covered the time period of 1657-1512 B.C.E., placing the Pharaoh of the time around Hatshepsut, Thumose I, and Thutmose II.

-Akhenaten-

It's not certain. Dates in the bible are arrived at for the most part by counting back through the generations of families mentioned until you get to a firm recognised event in history of which we know the date for certain.

Plus theirs an egyptologist who has recently put forward a new chronology for ancient egypt which would change things totally and push some kings forward or back by as much as two hundred years.

You have to take into account other mistakes in dating. It is possible that mistakes have been made with the dating of the kings and dynasties. IF any carbon 14 tests were done on mummies or other items well this is plus or minus 150 years.

The bible does actually mention 'the City of Ramses' by name which was not built in the time of Tuthmosis and Hatshepsut.

The Bible never gives straight dates. That's because in the Old Testament, they didn't have dates back then. Time was always marked by an event. The first known number date that people used was in the Roman times, such as BC and AD. But, when the dates were invented, nobody could really say how long ago Moses walked the Earth. Sure, Egypt had dynasties, but they only were a sense of when things happened, and the Hebrews weren't the Egyptians. So, the Bible is very vague on that. But, if God wanted us to know all, we would, but it wouldn't be as interesting!

You should try reading 'Secrets of the Exodus' by Messod and Roger Sabbah. They believe Akhenaten was Abraham and Ramses I was Moses!!!

Ok now. They're reall crazy. My gosh, I'm a minor and I know more then they do! Ok 1st, Abraham was born in Ur, in the fertile cresent. That's around modern Iraq or Iran. I forget which one. 2nd, Abraham lived in Ur for most of his life, until God told him to move to Israel, and became the Father of Israel. He had a son with his servand, and named him Ishmael, who became the father of Egypt. Ishmael teased Isaac, Abraham's son from Sarah, so Abraham sent Ismael and his mom into the desert, where they both founded Egypt. In short, Abraham, because of his disbelief that Sarah could have a son, formed one of the most amazing countries, and also one of Israel's worst enemies. How could one of Egypt's kings in the late 18th dynasty be Abraham, when Abraham's son founded Egypt???Another thing, Moses was Hebrew. It says that he was born of Jocabed. Jocabed did NOT give birth to Rameses I. Jocabed is CLEARLY an Israeli name. DUH STUPID PEOPLE WHO WROTE THAT BOOK! I KNOW ENOUGH TO TEACH THE BIBLE IN CLASS! *pants* Sorry for ranting, I'm studying to become a lawyer. Just to set the record straight. And another thing, does anybody know thier e-mail? I wanna give them a little piece of my mind for messing with the Bible...

My Bible says that the book of Exodus covers the time of 1657-1512 B.C.E. 1512 was two years after the Israelites left Egypt, so they left in 1514 B.C.E. Approxomately.

Okay, whoever wrote that book was pretty crazy. There's no way that Akhenaten and Ramses were Abraham and Moses. (P.S. Abrahams servant Hagar was Egyptian, she didn't start the nation).

Oh, yes. One of Noah's sons started Egypt. But, still, Abraham was BEFORE Akhenaten, and that was the main point I was trying to make. Anyway, I'll check that book out.
