Horemhab started the process of demolishing anything dealing with Aten.We really won't know why he hated these people who helped him so much. I could write great fiction about his life but it still wouldn't be true.

Ankhenaton-Heretic Pharaoh,priests of Amun wanting revenge,political advisors.
Tutankamun-Weak, useless,and Ankhenaton's son.
Ay-Old man, only ruled four years. But is there more to it? Did this man do something that made Horemhab mad?

Sadly,we'll never know the truth. We can only guess.

Then if Smenkhare was 18 when he died--if the mummy IS Smenkhare--then how old would Tut be?

Wait...let me re-word the above question, what I MEANT to ask was: How old would have Smenkhare been when Tut was born? Any guesses? Sorry the above post sounded awkward, I forgot to re-word it, so I'm doing it now, to lessen any confusion that I may have caused. Forgive me--I tend to type fast and not think of what I'm typing!!!   8)

I think that Smenkhare might have been an imposter. I just read a book on Henry VIII and it said that one got away with being the Prince of England for 20 years!
And yeah,he was executed by Henry VII.

Tut would have not been born. Because 9 is half of 18. So Smey here was nine.

If that body is Smenkhare, then he would have been born right at the beginning or even before Akhenaten's reign. And yes, that would have made him some 9 years older than Tut.

Then again people like Nicolas Reeves think that's the body of Akhenaten, not Smenkhare, so it may be a moot point.

That poor person in KV55 has been identified as a woman, a man, young, older, normal, possibly a statistical outlier, etc.....
Somehow not very flattering for whomever this is

I agree....imagine that you were living a normal life, everyone knew who and what you were, then you died...3,000 years later, you're being studied and such, and no one can determine your sex, and name, and who you are as a person...just a nameless, however-old-you-are person. Life is cruel like that....it makes me sad...

Well this blond 10 year old convinced alot of people he was the heir to Englands throne. And he escaped from the Tower once! At one point he had the Kings of Scotland,Austria, and France to support him!

How hard could it be for some lowborn guy to ascend to the throne of Egypt? If he could get an army and a few well placed nobles to fall for his story why not?

And maybe that's why his rule was so short! Someone found him out and had him murdered.

*Sighs* ....Seriously, if I was a magician, I would make all the answers appear in the blink of an eye!!

Hatshepsut, that is funny!! 8)

Smenkhare is an enigmatic figure...little is really known about him...we know more about Tut and Akhenaten, then poor Smenkhare. It's hard to picture him as a person, and his characteristics. I'd like to hear what people think he might've been.

I think he was a rebel, like Akhenaten, but maybe he didn't really want to be part of the Aten cult. I've read that he is only known by a temple--I think it was a temple of some kind--he built to Amun-Re. And he only ruled for 3 years...shorter than Tut's reign. Smenkhare, as far as I know, didn't really accomplish anything if he was pharaoh. But, maybe I should look into it more...I don't know... :(

He might've been kept in the background, like Akhenaten was, and Tut too. That's just what I think...I haven't really studied on Smenkhare that much, because there's little to study ON about him. But, maybe, his whole story will be told...like the other mysterious figures of the Amarna period. At least...I can only hope... 8)

In Theban Tomb 130 is an inscription from year 3 of Ankheperure:
"On the left jamb of a doorway is a hieratic text from year 3 of Ankheperure with a hymn to Amun of Pewah (Scribe of divine offerings of Amun in the house of Ankheperure)
"

This inscription implies that a King named Ankheperure ruled for at least 3 years, and that this person had a temple ("house").

I get the impression that this person is actually Neferneferuaten, who was shown to be a female by James Allen (2004).

There's also a person called Djeserkheperure Smenkhare, who's the husband of Meritaten.

It's a bit confusing because I have seen the Pharaoh mentioned in the Theban Tomb referred to as both Neferneferuaten AND as Smenkhare. But the prenomen of Ankheperure points to Neferneferuaten I think.

:? This is confusing....

What happened to Ankhenaton's other five daughters after his death?
