A good talk on dakhla oasis - Mostly about the village of Kellis & temple of Tutu who was quite a major god in later Roman times. Tutu or Tihoes in Greek was son of Neith, His temple in Kellis (quite large) was his only temple but he appears in several other temples. There are some very good wall paintings (and some fallen ceiling paintings). One puzzle is that on 2 occasions there is a painting of a cockerel near an entrance (in one case there were repeated panels including doves and 1 cock). Despite being isolated they were quite sophisticated as proved by the literature found there. They called the nile valley 'Egypt'. The village was abandoned after 392AD-possibly because prevailing winds changed and it was overwhelmed by sand.
